40 Thieves Solitaire is one of the most popular solitaire games with two sets of cards. But the game is rather time consuming, and both luck and skills are required to win. The objective of the game is to move all cards in the game to the eight foundation piles.
The layout of 40 Thieves Solitaire is divided into three areas. The stock pile is located in the upper left corner and contains all the cards not yet in play. The ten piles of the tableau are centrally located in the layout, and at the beginning of the game four cards are located in each of the piles, all face up. The eight foundation piles are located on top - the foundation piles are empty at the beginning of the game, and cards are moved to the foundation piles sorted in each of the four suits ranked from aces to kings.
40 Thieves Solitaire rules
Build cards into the foundation piles in suits from aces to kings. In the tableau, piles can be built with descending cards of the same suit, and only one card can be moved at a time. If there is no card in a pile of the tableau, any free card can be moved to pile. The cards in the stock pile can be turned one at a time, and played into both the tableau and the foundation piles. The game continues until it is not possible to carry out further moves. Only if all the cards are moved into the eight foundations piles, the game is won.
